POPULATION OF ENGLAND
A dangerous decline. London, Nov. 9. The population of England and Wales may be only 14,000,000 within 100 years unless the trends between the two wars are reversed, states a statistical summary. No appreciable increase in population is to be expected short oi largescale immigration. The total population at present is still increasing, but the proportion of old to young people is rising, which means that there are fewer potential parents. The summary attributes the decl ne of fertility to the deliberate limitation of families.
