Collier Delayed. Originally scheduled to leave Greymouth on Monday with 850 tons of coal for Wanganui, the Anchor Company’s coastal steamer Rata was barbound at the West Coast port yesterday, according to advice received by her local agents. This indicated that the vessel could not sail before midnight last night, in which case she would reach Castlecliff early to-mor-row afternoon. After discharge at Wanganui the Rata returns to the West Coast.

Victory Show Final preparations for the 1945 Victory Show of the Wanganui A. and P. Association, which opens on the Racecourse to-day, were made yesterday when a small army of workers were engaged in putting the finishing touches to stands and stalls. To-day and to-morrow the combined resources of town and country will be displayed in a carnival setting, which should attract large crowds. The weath from New Zealand farms will be displayed side by side with the products of the manufacturing skill ot the city and place is found in addition for exhibits showing individual ability in arts and crafts.

National Savings Further proof of the popularity of National Savings as a convenient investment is shown by the fact that the Wanganui district Weekly quota of £2380 was exceeded by £2546, and that the city showed a surplus of £1950 above its quota of £l3OO.
