£2OO PURSE OFFERED FOR MURPHY-O’KEEFE FIGHT The Wanganui Boxing Association deserves to be commended on its enterprise in matching Bos Murphy and Danny O’Keefe. The contest is for a purse of £2OO and is scheduled to take place on Spriggens Park, on the afternoon of December 1. Bos Murphy is the outstanding boxer in New Zealand at the present time, and is a great draw card wherever he appears. When he beat Roy Stevens, of Auckland, in an openair contest at Petone, a few weeks back, the crowd was in the vicinity of 4000. With the size of the purse offered, the Wanganui Boxing Association will need the full support of all boxing fans in the city and district.

Wanganui boxers were well to the fore at the Feilding tournament recently. In nine bouts, eight wins and one draw was recorded. Winners were: Hall, McClintock, Howes, A. Head, Clive Head. Mudgway, Murray Lee, and Coughlin. The last named won a cup for the most scientific boxer. Clive Head and Coughlin are in fine fighting form at the moment and are putting up stout opposition against all-comers. AMATEUR TOURNEY The following amateur bouts have been arranged by the Wanganui Boxing Association to take place on Cook s Gardens to-morrow night, when a tourney will be held for the carnival funds: Overall v. Stantial; Baldwin v. Wilkinson; Lavis v. Wright; Gosnell v. Connors; Lee v. Hall; Mitchell v. Mete Kingi; Comber v. Bullock; Kiernan v. Horne; Jarrett v. Fyfe; Hammond v. Korowhita; McDonald v. Farrell; A. Head v. McClintock; Tongs v. Mudgway; R. Baldwin v. Kelly; Knapp v. Barr.
