R. S. A. PRESENTATION TO MR. JORDAN
f P-A.) Wellington, Nov. 6 The New Zealand High Commissioner in London. Mr. Jordan, was he guest of the Dominion executive committee of the New Zealand Retu: ned Services’ Association at Dominion headquarters la t evening and opportunity was taken to give expression to he appreciation of servicemen for the work done for Them by Mr. and Mrs. Jordan in London. In welcoming Mr. Jordan, the Dominion vice-president, Mr. C. O. Beli, stated that the occasion was unique in that in paying a tribute to Mr. Jordan for his services as High Commis loner they were at the same time honouring a man who wa? not only a member of the R.S.A., but was also a foundation member of the Onehun; branch of the association. The as.sccia'ion felt that when a man had 'lone a good job. as Mr. Jordan had done, whether the man was a membe of the National Parly or the Labour Party, it was right and fitting that they should expre s the associations gratitude. Mr. Bell asked Mr. Jordan ty accept an inkstand and a case of silver teaspoons. the wo: k of disabled servicemen. as a token of the high esteem ;?i which he and Mrs. Jordan are held by the service personnel of both war.. Mr. Jordan said that in accepting the gifts on behalf of Mrs. Jordan and himself, he regarded them not as a. tides of wood, silver and paua shell, but as an expression of g*)od will which he and Mrs. Jordan would value ■ ery highly. “It has fallen io my lot,” he said, “to be of some service to my fellowcouptrymen in London and if the people at home in New Zealand are satisfied —well, what more can a man want?” The fact that he was himself a returned soldier had been of some advan'age to him in trying <o help solve the problems of our servicemen in
