WANGANUI MAN’S SUGGESTION. The suggestion of cricket tours to and from Fiji was mentioned in a letter from Flying-Officer W. H. Birkley (Wanganui) read at the annual meeting of the Wanganui Cricket 'Association last, night. “I think that all whose war service took them to the Pacific and played against Fiji teams were struck with the aptitude they showed in their matches.” stated the letter. “Some of their players were well up to the standard of New Zealand’s best. Tn seasons when New Zealand is not paying visits to, or receiving visits from, England or Australia, a tour from Fiji would be a great attraction to the minor associations in New Zealand.” Flying-Officer Bickley said he was ."Lire such a tour would Drove as popular as the tour of New Zealand by the Fiiian Rugby team in 1939.
