JUMPING COMPETITIONS A FEATURE

A feature of the Wanganui A. and P. Victory Show to be held on the Racecourse, on November 9 and 10, will be the jumping competitions, for which good prizes will be offered. The Maiden Hunters Competition (hunting style over hurdle, brush, hencoop, hurdle and double hurdle) for which £lO in cash prize-money is offered. The Open Leaping Competition, competitors to carry not less than list. 71bs., for which the prizemoney is £l2. The Wire Jump, hunting style, over 2 fences, for which the prize-money is £G. 'i'hp Maiden Pony jump over three hurdles, prize-money £3 10s; Pony Jump, rider to be under 17 years of age, prize-money £3 10s. Dual Jump, prize-money £5. Open Pony Jump, prizes £6. Ladies’ Jump, over hurdle, hencoop, hurdle and double hurdle, prize-money £9. The West Coast Hunters’ Jumping Championship, the principal jumping competition, is scheduled for the second day after the Grand Parade at 2 p.m. and will be the big event of the day. The competitors arc to ride hunting style at good hunting pace, and jump hurdle, brush, hencoop, hurdle, wire, and double hurdle. The prize-money is £35 and the winner will receive champion ribbon while the runner-up will receive a reserve champion ribbon. The steeplechase style jump at steeplechase pace over hurdle, brush, hencoop, hurdle and double hurdle, will also be held on the second day, the prize-money being £8 while lhe winner will also take a Drapers’ Association Cui), valued at. £6. Altogether there are 35 events in the horse section of the Show and it is anticipated that the entries this year will break all previous records, as the Wanganui Show is the lirst of the year's competitions at, which all horses that usually compete at country sports meetings will be tried out for lhe coining season.
