KAIERAU AND OLD BOYS DRAW HUIA (TAIHAPE) RETAINS THE PRESIDENT’S ROSE BOWL
In Wanganui on Saturday, in calm, warm conditions, the two unbeaten teams (Kaierau and the combined City and Wanganui Old Boys) played for the Charity Cup. The match resulted in a draw, six-all, and the issue will now be decided in a match next Saturday, after a match between a Waiouru Camp fifteen and a side picked from Technical Old Boys and Pirates.
Athletic Juniors (Wellington) beat Technical Old Boys (Wanganui/ by eight points to six in the curtainraiser on Spriggens Park, and the Wanganui junior representativesplaying on the Racecourse, beat Kaiwarra (Wellington) by 12 points to three. At Taihape the Wanganui Pirates’ challenge for the President's Rose Bowl (trophy held by the champion club team of the union) was unsuccessful, the holdiers (Huia) winning by 24 points to three. At Wellington, Wellington beat Auckland by 20 points to eight. Canterbury beat Otago by 20 points to 10.
