Sept.. 20 South-east Asia Command headquarters states that Admiral Mountbatinn has received the American D.S.M.. and Lieut.-General Wheeler, the Br tish K.8.E., at a double investiture marking a close association between *np British and Amer can commanders. The D.S.M. was presented to Adm s rnl Mountbatten for except ional’v emr’torious. distinguished service to Ihn United States as commander of S.E.A.C. Lent.-General Wheeler r rci-ed ihn K.B.E. for similar service to the British Fmnire as depul’ supreme command-'* and principal administrative officer. The American citation said: "Adm ral Mountbatten’s conduct of comb'ned operation'- in South-east Asia resulted in a military achievement of international renown.”
