WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

A. AND B. MATCHES WITH MANAWATU

To-morrow. Wanganui A and B women’s basketball teams will play their annual engagements with Manawatu A and B teams at Queens Park courts. Manawatu were winners of the 2nd grade at the recent N.Z. Tournament held in Christchurch and have now gone up to Ist grade. A match will also take place between a Wanganui junior club team, Slippers, and 13uchanan and Edwards' team from Wellington. Times and referees of matches are. Manawatu A v. Wanganui A on Queens Park court No. 1 at 2.30 p.m. Referee Mr. N. Hanson (Wellington). Manawatu B v. Wanganui B on Queens Park court No. 1 at 3.15 p.m. Referee, Miss B. Hall. Wanganui senior A team is: Forwards: J. Muir, J. McFarland (vicecaptain), L. Breed; centres, R. McMillan, M. Wadey, B. Goldsbury (caplain); defence, J. McCashin, M. Whale M. McFarland. Unfortunately E. Glasgow, O. Haycock, N. Brown and J. Clift, all of whom played at the N.Z. tournament, are not available. Senior B team: Forwards. M. Parnell, J. Pierce. D. Tonga; centres, J. Ralph, M. Bradshaw, E. Flyger; defence, M. Day. S. Hawke, L. Ernst (captain). Third and fourth grade teams will hold their Knock Out tournaments on Technical courts, commencing at 1.30 p.m. Referees: Miss M. Stratford, Miss B. Hall, Miss E. Gilmour, Mr. C. A. Lewis, Mr. L.
