ACHILLES TO GO TO JAPAN
RELIEF OF GAMBIA When the cruiser Achilles comes out of the dock at the naval base at Devonport she will be sent to Japanese waters to relieve 'he other New Zealand cruiser, the Gambia, which has been present in Tokio nay for the loimal signing of the Japanese surrender. On being relieved the Gambia will return to Auckland. This announcement, was made by the Minister of Defence, Mr. Jones, this week. Hr added that he was unable to givewnoi’e informai.on as io the date of departure of the Achilles cr the arilval of the Gambia.
