CHANGE IN WEATHER
SNOW REPORTED AT INLAND CENTRES The Wanganui coastal district was affected yesterday by a sudden drop in barometric pressure and bleak and cheerless conditions prevailed. A high westerly gale in the early hours of yesterday morning was accompanied by drenching rain showers. About 11 a.m. yesterday the wind shifted to the south and in the afternoon a moderate southerly gale developed in strength. Rough seas were reported off Castlecliff. Stormy conditions prevailed at Taihape, reported the “Chronicle” correspondent. After a blustery morning, with a piercing wind, snow commenced to fall at noon and continued till 6 p.m., blanketing the countryside in while. On the hills outside Taihape there were from three Io four inches of snow, and last night there were in-
dications that there would be a stiff frost. Waiouru and Hihitahi experienced a more severe fall of snow, some four inches bring reported, and at Moawhan.go the snow was from five to six inches deep. Raetihi and Ohakune also <<<perienced snow, there being up to four inches on the hills outside both towns.
