RUGBY UNION TOU
AUSTRALIANS MAY VISIT ENGLAND AND N.Z.
Recd. 7.30 p.m. Sydney, Sept. 9. An Australian Rugby Union tour of England next year is predicted by the president of the New South Wales Rugby Union, Mr. Justice Herron, when he revealed plans for the nearfuture. Justice Herron said he knew that the English Rugby Union was eager to play Australia the series of test matches that were interrupted by the outbreak of war in 1939, and added; “Before we select our side we will have a number of international tryouts and will more than likely play a series of matches against New Zealand. The proposed resumption of Test series against New Zealand may bring into operation for the first time in football history a ♦wo-way tour. This would mean that Australia would play New Zealand early in the season and New Zealand would play here later in the same season. Actually it’s our turn to visit New Zealand but this idea of a two-way tour would solve the problem.”
