ROTARY IN WANGANUI
ACTIMTIES REFERRED TO IN ANNUAL REPORT
A wide range of activity is reviewed in the report of the Wanganui Rotary Club, to be submitted to the annual meeting to-night. Mention is made that, in March last, the club celebrated its 21st anniversary, the occasion being marked by a successful dinner. Good work was accomplished in the vocational service and vocational guidance fields. During the past year a substantial cheque was handed to the City Council for a children's paddling pool for Peat Park. In December a Christmas party for crippled s/iildren was hfld at the Friends’ School, when a full programme of entertainment was carried out. The boys work committee had a busy year and sponsored a conference of youth organisations with a view to setting up a Wanganui Youth Council. The annual high tea for boys leaving school was held last. December, when brief talks were given by members of the club Acknowledgement is made in the report of the fine work of the Heritage Movement, both in city and district. Under the auspices of the Wanganui Rotary Clubj a social club for the blind was formed in the city, and is proving a boon to its members. Recently the club entertained the Polish children and their hosts to an up-river picnic, which was in every way a success.
