WORK ON HAWERA TRACKS
Hawera, Sept. 6. This morning the final gallops of Hawera horses to race at Wanganui on Saturday were performed under good conditions. The course proper, with the pegs out 45 yards, was used and the going was a bit holding. Peter’s Choice (Clutterbuck) and Black Plato (Holland) galloped six furlongs in 1.22. With the breeze against them, they occupied 42i for the first three furlongs of the journey and came home the last three in 394, with Peter’s Choice a shade in front. The two-year-olds, Bramerton (Holland) and the Robin Goodfellow colt. (Clutterbuck), sprinted three furlongs smartly in 39, the last two in 25. Silver Pal (Holland) galloped five furlongs in 1.7 2-5, the last three in 40. On the plough, Mersene (Moore, sen.) and Paper Bill (Moore) finished together over three furlongs in 38. Tel ahi (Moore) sprinted three furlongs on the outside in 40. The Broiefort filly (Moore) sprinted two furlongs in 25. Yesterday Lumond (Moore) and Plalo Boy (Anderson) schooled well over a round of the hurdles. Lumond is a doubtful starter on Saturday, but may go down for the second day. Drambuie was given pacr work this morning, General Saleve being given a similar task. Routine exercise work was given Abo Star, El Tiger, Lumond, Greek Chief, Ocean Song, White Diamond, Dutch Orator, Corday, Vermette and Golden Ash. Drambuie and General Saleve will not fulfil their first-day enpagemeits at Wanganui.
