This (Thursday) evening the finals of the club championship will be played and all members are requested to be present. UPPER TUTAENI I TABLE TENNIS CLUB. As was the case during the first term school holidays, the club has had a brief period of recess recently. It is intended to carry on activities till the end of the current month, before closing activities for the year. It. has been suggested that the club championships be played in lhe form of a Yankee tournament, which will be spread over the remaining time this month. In view of this and also with the intention of getting under way with the arrangements for the annual dance, it is hoped that as many members as car. will be at the practice to-morrow (Friday) evening. There is also the chance of securing a match with another club, and it is felt that this opportunitv should be taken if possible. Matches for the final positions on the ladders will also have to be played off in the near future. Consequently a good attendance is expected on Friday even-

Much good and useful practice has been put in this year, and the championships and the final ladder matches should provide some firstclass play. With the prospect, of the i eturn of many local men from over* seas before long, next season should be a very good one from all points of view. THE VICTORY HALL. FANCY DRESS DANCE. At the request of a number of patrons, the committee of the Victory ball on Tuesday evening decided to hold a piain, fancy and masked dance in the Victory Hall on Wednesday, September 12, dancing from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., for an admission charge of 2s 6d. Marks' Orchestra will supply the music and a Grand March will be held at 9.30 p.m. The ladies’ committee in charge of the supper can be depended upon to carry out this department in their usual efficient style. The treasurer, Mr. Keith Coombe, presented a statement of accounts, showing mat the outlay of £2300 had been reduced to £4OO. It was also decided to hold a dance on the rJght of the declaration of peace. Several citizens who have promised donations have evidently forgotten to send along their cheques, and the treasurer, Mr. Keith Coombe, will be pleased to receive them. The chairman, Mr. T.
