(Special). Palmers'.on N., Sept. 5. Following a heavy frost at. The flags were as far out as they could be and the times were slow. The best of the morning was that of Theolateral (W. J. Broughton) and Czarina (Rout.) over five furlongs, and they did well to run the distance in 1.15, maintaining an even pace throughout. Lady Spiral (Broughtoh took 1.16 .2-5, and Tremello (G. R. Tattersail) land Fen (A. Q. Waddell) 1.16 4-5 for 'five furlongs, but they did not do much | better than 47sec. for the last three. | Tahli (V. J. Sellars) and Speed King j (Tattersail) were on terms at the enct of five furlongs. They appeared to be going comfortably, but they required 1.18 2-5, the last three in 47sec.

Langue d’Or (Tattersail) began quietly from' the mile, Vivid Night (W. J. Stevens) joining him short of the five furlongs peg, and the latter came home in 1.18, the last three in better than 45sec. Vivid Night worked well. Merger (J. P. Bowness) was in front of Tid-Apa (H. Thomson) at the end of six furlongs in 1.32. Lord Bradbury (Broughton) coverled live, but was never off the bit. Red J Glare went once round, but was not 'after time. Kaitoa (Tattersall) and Aleiheu (Sellars) sprinted three furlongs in 44 2-ssec., and Yalta ‘Broughton), in company with Purple Dawn Thomson), went well in running the distance in 43sec. Yasda (Sellars) and Renascor (Boreham) took 46sec. Several horses wen; away from the seven furlongs barrier to run down the back straight. Controller (M. Andrews), after running (he first furlong in 16sec., completed four smoothly in 58sec., Scroll, the Parchment youngster from the same stable, slipped over three in 47sec after taking 17sec. for the first furlong. '■ Specialist (Andrews) and Kelmont 'sprinted four in 58 3-ssec., the last ithree in 44sec. | One of the most interesting trials oi ■ the morning was that of Solver (Tattersall) and Reversion (Waddell) ovei seven furlongs. They began well, and Reversion went kindly to lead to the (five furlongs post in 32 2-ssec. They jwere home the last three in 16 3-ssec. j to complete in 1.49. W. J. Broughton's Wanganui en-

gagements include Magnus Lux, Battle Survey, Keen Play, and Bridge Acre, and he will ride Al-Sirat in the Guineas on the second day.
