GIRLS’ MARCHING
TAIHAPE FORMS AN ASSOCIATION. (0.C.) Taihape, April 12. With a view to stimulating girls’ marching in Taihape next summer, the Taihape Amateur Athletic Club is training two teams in preparation. A third team is in formation and there are a few vacancies for newcomers. The personnel of the teams comprise 10 members. The coaches are Staff-Sergeant-Major Comrie, Messrs. F. Bartram and J. Burke. Good progress is being made and the practices are being well attended. A decision to hold a marching contest next summer was agreed to at a recent, meeting of interested bodies. Information was received from Wanganui that the Wanganui Marching Association would he represented by 14 teams at the first display in Taihape. Representation of teams from Pahiatua had also been promised. Mr. IT. D. Grav was elected president, and Mr. E. Duffy, honorary I secretary, of the new marching association. So that funds can be raised it is proposed Io run a series of dances during the winter.
