OBITUARY.
MR. CHARLES GARLICK. The death has occurred of Mr, Charles Garlick, a pioneer resident Oi Whakatane. aged 83. Born in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, Mr. Garlick cams to New- Zealand in the ship Rakaia, landing in Auckland. He married Miss Maria'Tapsell, a grand-daughter of the trader Hans Tapsell and the renowned Hine Purama, of Maketu, who was the first registered Maori in Whakatane. Mr. Garlick combined farming with contracting and later was engaged in mail deliveries. He is survived -by three sons, two daughters and 13 grandchildren.
MRS. JANE MURRAY.
The death has occurred in Hamilton of Mrs. Jane Murray, aged 87. widow of Mr. William Arthur Murray, of Hamilton. Mrs. Murray married in 1879 and subsequently lived on several farms. She had lived in Hamilton for some years. She is survived by one son and five daughters. There are eight grandchildren and two /»’••»- grandchildren.
