“POSTIES'" DRIVE
PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE’S APPRECIATION. ‘‘lt was a splendid effort and a splendid cause benefited," declared members of the Wanganui City Patriotic Committee yesterday, when a statement ol the financial result of the recent drive by "Posties” for patriotic funds was received from the chief postmaster at Wanganui. Mr. D. J. B. Walker. The amount raised was £1615 13s 61d. "On this occasion there was a very I helpful atmosphere among all sections of the community," Mr. Walker stated, in a covering letter. “The 'Posties' are unanimous in their opinion that their effort was made much easier this year by the co-operation and wonderful consideration bestowed upon them in all parts of the city. Naturally, they are proud to have achieved their objective and to have contributed to the filling of the Wanganui patriotic quota for the current year.”
It was decided to write to the chief postmaster and ask him o convey the committee's appreciation of the effort.
