TURKEY’S CHANGE
PRO-ALLIED INDICATIONS IMPLICATIONS OF FOREIGN MINISTER’S RESIGNATION Recd. 6 p.m. New York, June 17. The Washington correspondent of the Heraxl-Tribune says that diplomatic circles consider that Menemencoglu’s resignation as Foreign Minister is an indication that Turkey has turned against Germany as a result of recent Allied successes, and Turkey will soon assume a more active part, in the Allied war effort to ensure a place at the peace table. The New York Times Cairo correspondent says Menemencoglu was on bad personal terms with Mr. Anthony Eden and was reputedly so anti-Rus-sian that he favoured a German victory. Some sources expect him to be replaced by the pro-Allied Turkisii Ambassador to London, Mr. Rushdiaras.
