CHARGE OF STRIKING ANOTHER “After hearing evidence in a case in the Magistrate's Court, Wanganui, yesterday, in which Qneenie Tahu was charged with striking another woman, Mr. J, H. Salmon, S.M., convicted defendant and bound her over for 12 months to keep the peace, with a surety of £5O which must be found within seven days. The magistrate said he was satisfied that defendant had struck the other woman. Such conduct, he added, would not be tolerated. Senior-Sergeant F. Culloty prosecuted and defendant pleaded not guilty. Complainant said in evidence that she was cycling along Anzac Parade when defendant, whom she knew, stepped out from the footpath. Complainant added that she slowed down and was about to dismount when defendant struck her on the left eye, breaking her glasses. She was knocked off her cycle, but did not fall to the ground. Defendant accused com•?lri“”'.nt of telling lies to the neighbours.
