TRANSPORT OF HORSES
TWO TRAINERS FINED (P.A.) Dannevirke, April 21. In the Magistrate’s Court, before Mr. A. Coleman, S.M., the Transport Department, proceeded again two horse trainers, Bartholomew John Kelleher and James Joseph Waller, both of Palmerston North, for having committed a breach of recent, regulations by having transported racehorses by motor over the prescribed distance of 30 miles. These wore the first prosecutions of the kind binder the regulations. Both defendants pleaded guilty and were each lined £5 and costs £2 12s The magistrate said he would inliicl a nominal penally only, because they were the first cases of I heir kind. In future similar prosecutions (ho lines would not be so light.
