SHOOTING AFFRAY
YOUNG MAN ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL I (P.A.) Wellington, April 23. Suffering from a compound fracture of the thigh, caused by a bullet wound, a young man, aged 19. was admitted to the Wellington Hospital on Saturday afternoon following a shooting affray which occurred in Happy Valley Road, Brooklyn. Firearms had to be used by the police to apprehend a young man who is alleged to have threatened them with a .22 calibre rifle. When they arrived to question him at about 3.30 p.m. he is stated to have ordered them to leave under threat of shooting them. The police left and returned with a larger party. During a subsequent skirmish, which lasted about an hour, several shots were fired. The i young man was wounded in the thigh land arrested.
