STERLING FUNDS INCREASE. The sterling exchange funds of the Renerve Bank on April 10 totalled £29,608,645, an increase of £1,627,218. The note isflue at £36,587,236 shows a decrease for the week of £11,543. The statement, as at Monday, ; / 1 , ,

A year ago the rcfiervo was £24,166,798. Sterling exchange on April 10 amounted to £29,608,645, an increase of £ 1,627,218. Liabilities in currencies other than New Zealand currency total £16,644 (a decrease of £20,000), thus making the bank’s net overseas assets £29,592,001, compared with £27,944,"83 on April 3, an increase of £1,647,218. A year ago f’c-e msets were £21,364,921. Advances to the State Marketing Department total £1,7'36,264, an increase of £233,713. A year ago they were £5,439,208. Advances to the State for other purposes are unchanged, at £35,885,000, compared with £31,135,000 a year ago. The note issue on April 10 totalled £26,587,236, a decrease for the week of £11,543. 9A year ago it was £30,833.798. Demand liabilities to the State amount to £ 13,5i‘2,315, an increase of £1,043,376. The trading banks’ reserve balances total £30,236.197, an increase of £490,07".
