OVERSEAS WEDDING
DAVIDSON—SHIELDS. A pretty wedding took place on January 18, 1944, at St. Patrick’s Church, Grande Allee, Quebec, Canada, the Rev. Father E. J. Macdonald officiating, of Anita Rita, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Shields. 141 Aberdeen Street, Quebec, to C. D. C. (Doug. Davidson (flying officer, R.N.Z.A.F.) only son of Mrs. E. Davidson, Palmerston North, formerly of Wanganui, and the late Mr. J. J. Davidson. « Standards of pink and red roses decorated the altar’ of the church. Potted palms were placed along the' aisle, and pale blue bows marked the guest pews. The wedding music was sung by the St. Dominique choir. Given in marriage by her father, th e bride wore a lovely gown of white bridal satin, simply tasnioned, the skirt forming a long train. Her veil of illusion tulle was trimmed with old Irish lace and she carried a cascade bouquet of pink roses. Her only ornament was a suing of satin pearls. She was attended by her sister, while Mr. Michael Shields was best man for the groom. The reception following the ceremony was held at the Clarendon Hotel, after which Flying-Officer and Mrs. Davidson left for their wedding trip to Montreal and Ottawa. For travelling the bride wore a suit of powder blue flannel under a brown beaver coat and brown accessories. Out-of-town guests at the wedding included: Flying-Ofhcer Saunders and Pilot-Officer Camm, of New Zealand, Flying-Officer Charlton, of England, and Flight-Sergeant Rye, of Toronto.
