MR. NASH PROMINENT
NEW PRESIDENT OF 1.L.0. Recd. 9 p.m. New York, April 19. Mr. Walter Nash, New Zealand Minister in Washington, is most prominently mentioned as the new president of the International Labour Office, says the Associated Press Philadelphia correspondent. The 1.L.0. conference, opening a three weeks’ session to-morrow, will attempt to establish machinery whereby world trade unions will participate in formulation of the Peace Treaty or post-war agreements on financial and economic policies. This move is expected to evoke protests from hoth Government and employer delegates. Workers’ delegates will also seek to strengthen the 1.L.0. by severing ties with the League of Nations. British and American delegations will favour the 1.L.0. as the instrument whereby post-war conditions will be evolved giving men and women throughout the world a minimm u living standard.
