EDUCATION BOARD MEMBER SUSPENDED Wellington, April 20. On the grounds of contempt and refusal to obey the chairman’s ruling, t he Wellington Education Board, at its meeting on Tuesday night passed a resolution, moved by Mr. L. J. Macdonald and carried with three dissentients, suspending Colonel T. W. McDonald for the remainder of the meeting, and he was requested to withdraw from the board room. This he refused to do, saying that they would have to carry him out if they wanted him to go. As Colonel McDonald persisted in hi® refusal to withdraw, the meeting was adjourned for half an hour, which adjournment took it past the usual closing time of the meeting. When the board resumed in open meeting yesterday morning, Colonel McDonald was again requested by the chairman, Mr. W. V. Dyer, to withdraw in accordance with the resolution passed the previous evening. As he still refused, the meeting was adjourned until this afternoon. When it resumed at 2 D.m., the (board’s secretary, Mr. W. I, Deavoll, stood at. the door of the board room, admitting only those entitled to be present at the meeting, and two police officers were also in attendance. Col-, onel McDonald, who, at the time of going to press, had not attempted to enter the room, although he was present in the building, had his personal napers handed out to him, and the meeting proceeded in a normal manner.
