MAKIRIKIRI SPORTS
PREPARATION FOR TOMORROW Thorough preparations have been made by the Makirikiri Sports Committee for to-morrow’s sports meeting, which is being held at Makirikiri, in grounds ideally suited for such an event. Good entries are forthcoming in the horse events, which will be up to the district’s usual high standard. There will also be keen competition in the axemen's events. Mr. S. Mcßae, Patea, has been appointed judge of the horse events and Mr. j. Collingwood, Wanganui, is to handicap the axemen. A river boat is to run to the sports, leaving town for early patrons at 10 a.m. and at 1 p.m. for those leaving after lunch. Given fine weather the sports should prove popular to both town and country folk. The sports ground •can be easily reached by tar-sealed road and several city people are intending to cycle out.
