THE WANGANUI R.S.A. PRESIDENT REVIEWS ACTIVITIES According to the president of the Wanganui Returned Services Association, Mr. R. G. Taiboys, the membership of the organisation now totals 3. », of whom 216 are returned serviceman from the present war. It is hoped to have at least 1000 members by an early date. Mr. Taiboys pointed out that the New Zealand Association had become a very strong body. Many of the men who had been to the last war, who had allowed their membership to lapse, had joined up again; many wno had not been members before had joined. All these men recognised the worth of the association, which now was being augmented by the return of servicemen from the present war. He said the association was accomplishing much good in assisting the newly returned men in an advisory capacity. The financial side of the» • problems was in the care of the Patriotic Committee. and Rehabilitation Committee. Referring to the past year’s activities, Mr. falboys said he and his executive deeply appreciated the support that had been given to the various appeals, mentioning the Christmas appeal for members of distresed families. Mr. Taiboys mentioned the good work of Mr. F. G. Sedon, the secretary of the association, and other helpers in this particular effort. Matters of interest to the association which.will take place within the next few months are the quartetly meeting, which is scheduled for March 1, and the annual bowling tournament on the St. John's green, on March 4. The annual Poppy Day appeal will be neld on April 19, and the usual observance of Anzac Day will be held on April 25. Arrangements are in hand lor the Anzac Night concert, which is always a feature of the observance. Referring to the women’s section of the R.S.A., Mr. Taiboys said As membership is growing which he said was all to the good, file A.N.A. Club still required the support oi the public, particularly at wee K-ends, when there is a heavy demand on the ciub. It is the intention of the R.S.A. to put on one night's entertainment, a month at the club during the winter, he added.
