ENGINEERED BY AXIS
BOLIVIAN REVOLUTION Recd. 8 p.m. Washington. Jan. 8. Information now available here increasingly strengthens the belief that forces outside Bolovia and unfriendly to the defence of the American Republics inspired and aided the Bolivian revolution, said Mr. Cordell Hull in a statement. He added: “The present consultation between nineteen American countries concerning the origin of the revolution will soon permit each Government to reach its own conclusions.” The United Press says that although Mr. Hull did not identify the forces it is suspected the revolution was engineered with the aid of Axis forces in Argentina, the only country to recognise the Bolivian regime. Mr. Hull’s statement indicated tha\ nineteen Governments have already agreed to withhold recognition irom Bolivia, says the New York Times' Washington correspondent. Furtnermore, it is understood they may take action further isolating Argentina. British collaboration is necessary because of Britain's strong trade connections. This is believed to have been the subject of a conference today attended by Mr. Hull. Mr. Harry Morgenthau, Sir Arthur Rowley, Lord Halifax and Mr. Ben Smith, chairman of the British Supply Council.
