ALL FOR VICTORY

UNITED NATIONS’ UNITED EFFORTS Recd. 7 p.m. Rugby, Jan. 6. President Roosevelt stated to-da;; that all nations were giving what they could for victory when he transmitted to Congress his 30th. Lend-Lease report covering the period ending November 30. The President, emphasised that neither Lena-Lease statistics nor dollar funds ot any kind could measure with the relative contributions of the nations towards the winding-up ot the war in the coming year, which will be a year ot decisive actions. “By combining their strength, the United Nations have increased the power of their common drive to deteat the Axis,” he said. "We have already beaten back the enemy on every trout on which we are engaged. At Teheran and Cairo plans were agreed on for many offensives which will speed the aay of victory. With the closer unity there achieved, we shall be able to strike ever-increasing blows until the uncondtional surrender ot the Nazis and the Japanese. “Mutual aid has contributed substantially to the strength of the United Nations and the flow of Lend-Lease assistance from the United States to our allies and reverse Lend-Lease from our allies to us has increased the power of our united offensives. Some countries, like the United States and Canada, located away from the fighting theatres, are able to make available to other nations large quantities of food and manufactured arms. Others, like the Soviet Union and China, require virtually everything we can produce to fight the enemy on their own soil. The cost of war to us and our allies is high, ’t he more tuliy we can now mobilise our man-power, supplies and ether resources for the decisive task ahead the lower will be the final cost, of victory. The United Nations in the new year are stronger and more firmly united than ever oelore. as the Germans and the Japanese both will ijoon learn to their sorrow. —8.0.W.
