GREY BAR TROUBLE
(P.A.) Greymouth, Jan. 7. The shoaling of the Grey River bar is to be discussed next week at a meeting of the Greymouth Harbour Board at which the Minister of Marine (Mr. O’Brien), who is also M.P. for Westland, and officials of the Marine Department will be present, in the hope of making arrangements to overcome the difficulties it has caused. The chairman of the board stated that coal may be railed to Westport to be shipped. The water on the bar has become too shallow to allow most of the colliers to cross it without risk of bumping in a swell, and no Union Company sailings are at present scheduled.
