Recd. 7.45 p.m. Melbourne, Jan. 5. For the first time on record, a platypus has been born in captivity. After five years at the §ir Colin Mackenzie sanctuary, Healesville, the parents have bred a baby. Naturalists had believed that platypuses would not breed in captivity.
