(P.A.) Wellington, Jan. 5. The fipal round oi the New Zealand chess championship tourney played at Wellington yesterday resulted in a tie between R. H. Severne, Wellington, and R. G. Wade, Wellington, who each secured 65 points ot a possible of 9. As a result three games are to be played on Saturday, commencing on Saturday, January 15, to decide which is champion. In the major open tournament Dr. Elizabeth Meyer, Auckland, increased her lead with another win, finishing well ahead with 95 points out of a possible 11. Final points were: Championship, R. H. Severne 65, R. G. Wade 65, T. Lepviikmann 6, A. W. Gyles 55, J. D. Steele 5, K. Beyer 45. 11. McNabb 4, F. K. Keeling 3. L. J. Darwin 25, J. L. Harvev IL Major open. Dr. E. Meyer 95, J. K. Webling 75, B. Wood 7, W. J. Fairburn 65, N. P. Fletcher 65, N. S. Henderson 55, Miss A. R. Hollis 5, L. Gneiss 45, H. 1. Christensen 45, Mrs. Tfc G. Short 45, A. Summers 3, W. A. Pearce 2.
