(P.A.) Wellington, Jan. 5. The fipal round oi the New Zealand chess championship tourney played at Wellington yesterday resulted in a tie between R. H. Severne, Wellington, and R. G. Wade, Wellington, who each secured 65 points ot a possible of 9. As a result three games are to be played on Saturday, commencing on Saturday, January 15, to decide which is champion. In the major open tournament Dr. Elizabeth Meyer, Auckland, increased her lead with another win, finishing well ahead with 95 points out of a possible 11. Final points were: Championship, R. H.
