LIVESTOCK MARKETS

VALUES IN TARANAKI Values show very little change throughout most departments report the Farmers’ Co-op. in their weekly summary. Increased demand for all grazing catlie and for shorn hoggets has been the predominating feature: otherwise no great alteration is recorded. At some sales beef values eased considerably, and at the moment the market appears to be amply supplied. Good sales are reported for prime quality, sheep, and wethers of quality see values firm at late levels. Very tew ewes are offering and values for this class are considerably eased. Feed conditions are governing the values and demand for store cattle. With regard to station bred cattle very few straight lines are offering and cattle carrying condition are commanding strong attention, and late rates are fully maintained. Graziers are well to the fore in their request for suitable Jersey paddock cattle, and some appreciation in prices over recent rates is noticeable. Store Sheep.—Hoggets of both sexes are in demand,, but holders are reluctant to offer. Late rates have been fully held and any offerings of average to good sheep are readily disposed of. Very few lines of ewe lambs, are quoted. The lateness of the season practically witnesses the dairy section devoid of any hellers of quality close to profit or in milk. Early sell up to £l2, but as most of the entries are of a nondescript kind values for this class are reported at from £7 to £B. Replacement classes are not in demand so keenly as hitherto.

Jersey oddments continue to come forward in fair to good numbers, and all classes are commanding strong attention with values equal to late rates.
