Between May 1 and October 30 the Allies sank 150 U-boats, said RearAdmiral Low, Assistant Chief of Naval Anti-Submarine Operations, in a 'broadcast. Allied shipping losses in the Atlantic in the same period remained less than one-half of 1 per cent. Germany still has hundreds of submarines, but the damage they inflicted on shipping does not justify their existence, said Admiral Low.
