SOUGHT SON’S EXEMPTION

__ „ Sydney, Oct. 16. Mrs. Ernestine Hi]l obtained a t>vo months’ Army exemption for her 18-year-old son Robert to enable him to help her in writing a new book. Mrs. Hill wrote “Water Into Gold,” “The Great Australian Loneliness,” and “My Love Must Wait.” She is a member of the Australian Broadcasting Commission.

In the Adelaide Police Court Mrs. Hill said tht she was writing a book to be entitled "Meridans of God.” Her son Robert “looked after everything” for her, and she could not continue working on her new book without his help. “My husband died ten years ago, and my son has been helping me in my literary work,” she said. Her son did research for her and work on illustrations for the book. As a member of the A.B.C. she has been to Sydney 15 times in the last 15 months, and her son has always accompanied her.

Dr. Leon Opit. of Unley Park, said he had examined Mrs. Hill and had found her very neurotic. During his examination she seemed to think that he “was against her,” and was involve! in a conspiracy to deprive her of the comfort of her son.
