HUMIC COMPOST CLUB
The last evening meeting of the Humic Compost Club for this year was held on Thursday night, and was very well attended. The nrincipal speaker was Mr. E. A. Watkin. who. dealt with the subject of soil erosion. He showed by maps how small a portion of the earth’s surface is really suitable for large-scale nroduction for man’s needs, and also how most erosion is taking place in regions where the soil is most fertile. The various causes of erosion were touched upon, and the urgency of the problem was stressed. The speaker explained how humus in the soil acts to nrevent erosion from taking place. A hearty vote of thanks to the speaker was carried by acclamation.
