GUERRILLA WARFARE
STREET FIGHTING REPORTED IN FLORENCE Recd. 8.20 p.m. London. Nov. 20. A state of emergency has been proclaimed in Florence following street fighting between Italian and German soldiers, says the Stockholm Afton Tidningen’s Berne correspondent. A curfew at 8 p.m. was imposed, and the Gormafts were instructed to fire on grouns of more than three. Cairo radio reports that the Germans are using dive-bombers to blast out Italian guerrillas attacking German transport at the mouth of the Simplon tunnel. Fifteen thousand Italian soldiers are hiding in the nearby mountains. According to the Barcelona correspondent o fthe Associated Press. German troops opened an offensive against French guerrillas operating in the mountains east of Chambery. This is the first all-German military operation in the Alpine dirtrict of eastern France. Casualties occurred on both sides. The guerrillas are wit’ i rawing eastwards, where the maT.i force, supplemented bv Italians, is preparing to defend positions.
