TO AID RESTORATION
N.Z. TO CONTRIBUTE EIGHT MILLION DOLLARS Recd. 6 p.m. New York, Nov. 17. New Zealand is expected to contribute 8,000,000 dollars towrads restoring the reconquered countries. This estimate is given by the United Press correspondent at the U.N.R.R.A. United Nations Rehabilitation and Relief Association) meeting at Atlantic City. Other contributions likely are: United States 1,100,000,00(1 dollars; Britain 320,000,000 dollars; Canada, 90,000,000; Australia, 40,000,000; India, 35,000,000; South Africa, 12,000,000. India’s contribution amounts to only one-third per cent, of the national income, but the distinction is based on the unequal distribution of Indian wealth. The correspondent learns that an additional 495,000,000 dollars will be requested from other contributing countries, most of which presumably are the Latin-American Republics, unless payments are volunteered byRussia or invaded countries like France and Holland, which have golu and other resources, or trom prosperous neutrals like Turkey, Sweden. Argentina and Switzerland. It was reported that Sweden has already agreed to participate.
