COAL DELIVERIES IN AUCKLAND (P.A.) Auckland, Oct. 1. Coal deliveries have been resumed by members of the Auckland Coal Dealers’ Association. The coal is being delivered in 1401 b. sacks, 16 to the ton, as requested by the Auckland Drivers’ Union, and an assurance that the Government would meet the proven extra costs of delivering in smaller bags was given to the secretary of the association by the Minister of Commerce, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan. The Minister advised that authority had been given for the weight of bags of coal to be reduced from 1861 b to 1401 b. The standard of manpower available in the industry was lower than formerly because many fit men had joined the services.
