INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL

FANCY DRESS BALL The babble of young voices and the merry ring of laughter filled the Druids’ Hall last night when the annual fancy dress ball of the Wanganui Intermediate School was held. The hall was well filled and much interest was displayed by parents. The grand march, which took some time to complete, was a colourful scene and the vivid hues of the costumes presented a gay spectacle. There were very few children not in fancy dress, and these few were boys. Costumes of every nationality and different periods mingled with film stars, pirates, fairies, kings and queens, brides and bridegrooms, sailors and soldiers and other dancers in original dresses. Trussell’s orchestra provided lively music, to which the young merrymakers went through such dances as the Gay Gordons, Grand Old Duke of York, waltzes, and other favourites. The arrangements were in the hands of the headmaster, Mr. W. E. Fossette, and staff, and Mr. Harre was master of ceremonies. Supper was provided by the parents and school committee.
