NEW RATION BOOK

FOR EXPECTANT MOTHERS (P.A.) Wellington, Sept. 30. A new type of ration book will be issued to expectant mothers as from October 1, the Food and Rationing Controller, Mr. J. E. Thomas, announced to-night. This book, which will be used until the child is six months old, includes special food coupons in addition to clothing coupons and will be issued in place of the special clothing card which has been in use up to the present. The only coupons immediately available are 25 for clothing, six for wool and 12 for in f ant linen, as indicated in the hook. The clothing coupons may be used for linen and the wool for clothing, but not vice versa. The book* will be available at all rationing offices. Application forms are also in the hands of maternity hospitals for direct application to the Rationing Controller. Only naw appneants are to apply for the book meanwhile. Expectant mothers who have already received a special card of coupons are to continue using them end may secure the supplementary book with the new general ration book, on issue in a few week’s time.
