At the Addington market the store sheep entry was 1275, against 773 last week, and was confined to two classes, hoggets and ewes with lambs. All of the hoggets were ewes. With the favourable change in weather and feed conditions competition was spirited, and except for the lowest grade prices showed a considerable rise. A pen of 81 Romney hoggets made 38s and halfhreds sold from 36s to 375. Others made from 28s 3d to 30s 6d, with inferior down to 21s. The exves with lambs at foot were aged and of poor condition, but nevertheless the best sold a 17s 6d, all counted, and others made from 15s Id to 16s 6d, inferior Ils 6d to 13s Bd. The fat sheep entry rose from 2750 last week to 5000, xvhich again included attractive lines of southern sheep, both ewes and wethers. Though the bulk of the offering showed quality there was the usual sprinkling of unfinished sheep, and most of these were in the early pens. Consequently there was not much life about the first two alleys and there was an all-round drop of from 5s to 7s; especially for ewes. But as the sale progressed the class improved and over the latter part there was very little change compared with the high prices ruling for the best sheep a week ago. The highest price for ewes was 57s 7d for a pen of heavily-woolled sheep from the South, and a truck from North Canterbury sold from 49s to 56s Id. In the wether section a line of 56 made 45s 7d to 64s Id, the latter equal to last week’s peak figure, and another ine from 57s Id to 59s 7d. A consignment of shorn two-tooth wethers sold exceptionally well from 37s 7d to 44s Id.

Fat Cattle.—With another small entry prices for fat cattle showed a rise on the very high market last week. The entry of 331 head was insufficient for the demand, particularly as a large proportion were of lighter weight and quality than a week ago. Many of the steers forward were little better than forward stores but nevertheless sold round about £l5. Primest beef improved by up to-40s a head and medium by up to 35s on last week’s rates. Best beef made from 64s to 70s per 1001 b. good 60s to 635, medium 54s to 58s, ordinary' to 48s, inferior to 40s. Best heifer beef made up to 665, good 55s to 595, ordinary to 50s. Best cow beef sold to 535, good 46s to 495, ordinary to 425.

Fat Pigs.—There was a small entry of porkers and the quality was not up to recent standards. Competition was again keen, prices remaining'at fully up to schedule rates. The chopper yarding was again heavy, bidding being spirited throughout and last Week's good prices were fully maintained. In the bacon section the sale was the best, one for several weeks, values being higher by 3s to 4s a head. Average price per lb. Bid .to 9id.
