PATRIOTIC MONEYS YEAR REVIEWED BY SECRETARY. The meeting of the Wellington Metropolitan Patriotic Committee held last Monday was the final meeting of the year iCI2-43 (to September 30; and a general report was made by tire hon. secretary, Mr. Vincent Ward. He ano. the hon. treasurer, Mr. B. O. Peterson, were warmly thanked by the committee for their good work. I Of the provincial quota, £173.580 i was paid to the National Board, leavI ing £31,830 to meet such provincial requirements as 18,000 unaddressed ; parcels every three months, wool to i be made up into woollen comforts for ■ the troops, sports gear, sleeping accommodation, approximately 1000 reds in Wellington alone, financial assistance for Y.M.C.A.. Salvation Army, Toe H, and many other bodies doing patriotic work for the troops, enter- | tain meat for our own and visiting servicemen and Merchant Navy, transport for visiting servicemen to the country, £12,000 for welfare funds (making the total now in the fund £126.000), drawn on continuously, and many other incidental expenses. The metropolitan funds raised to j September 27 were £76,950. leaving a i shortage of £23,700. These funds were raised by entertainments, street day-.

To this will shortly be added the result of the two art unions the Government is permitting to go to our funds.
