WAR SAVINGS QUOTAS

WANGANUI SUCCESSES Ten officers in the Wanganui postal district were successful in reaching their War Savings quotas last week. The most notable performance was Hunterville’s attainment of the century mark in unbroken weekly successes. Other offices were Aramoho and Marton (99 consecutive weeks), Wanganui (98 consecutive weeks), Taihape (79), Waverley (72), Ohingaiti (68), Patea (68), Mangaweka (64). and Waitotara (41). Though the district quota of £2720 was exceeded, the actual cash investments showed a marked decline on the excellent results recorded at many offices in the past six weeks. In the Wanganui city area the results were the lowest since the close of the Liberty Loan campaign. The city’s unbroken record of 98 successive weeks was only maintained by utilising part of the surplus credit from previous weeks. Next week Wanganui will reach the coveted goal of 100 consecutive weeks of quota successes. An appeal is made to investors to mark this notable occasion by oversubscribing the full quota of £1450 early in the week. The enthusiasm and interest of the Aramoho suburb in attaining their century mark was recognised by a resident who subscribed the full amount on the first day of the week. From time to time several Wanganui citizens, proud of the city’s reputation in the War Savings campaign, have assisted generously, and no doubt they will see to it that citizens with funds to invest in War Savings or bonds will maintain the good work. Marton Effort. Marton succeeded in reaching its "century” mark in the National Savings campaign yesterday. The committee expresses appreciation of the fine spirit of co-operation shown by citizens.
