SWEDISH SYMAPTHY GESTURE TO DENMARK

Recd. 7.5 p.m. Rugby, Aug. 30. There was an expression of Swedish feeling for the Danes yesterday at the Stockholm Stadium, at an athletic meeting between Sweden and Denmark. which took placw as arranged. The huge crowd listened in silence when the president of the Swedish Sports Union spoke and assured the Danes of Swedish sympathy. He said he was convinced that Denmark would soon be free. When the Danish flag was run up the crowd broke into cheers and sang the Danish National Anthem. The Swedish radio said to-night that anti-aircraft guns in the Malmo area opened fire on a German aircraft which approached the west coast of Sweden opposite Copenhagen yesterday. Later in the day another German aircraft flew over Swedish territorial waters off Helsingborg. The German Overseas News Agency to-day gave the German version of the recent sinking with their crews of two Swedish fishing vessels. It said the vessels were in the Skagerrak, off Denmark, which the Germans classed as banned waters. The news agency alleged that th? vessels were acting in a manner which constituted direct support for Germany's enemies, and warned that in future appropriate action would be taken against all vessels found in prohibited waters.
