Mr. J. A. Nash, of Palmerston North, has been re-elected president of the Electric Power Boards and Suppy Authorities’ Association. Mr. M. H. Wynward, who has been motorists' ■representative on the Main Highways Board for 21 years, will be given a complimentary dinner on October 1 by the Automobile Association in Christchurch.

Flying-Officer Denis George Mann, aged 22, who was drowned when his aircraft crashed during air operations overseas, was the elder son of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Mann. 15 Nixon Street, Wanganui, and was educated at the Marton District High School. Before enlisting in the Royal New Zealand Air Force he was employed in the Social Security Department’s office, Palmerston North lie went overseas in October, 1941. The death has occurred, after a short illness, of Mr. Cecil John Williams, a retired railway officer, who was for several years stationmaster at Timaru. Since his retirement three years ago he had continued to live there. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, three daughters and six sons. Two of his sons are the Rev. R. O. Williams, vicar of Hari Hari. and Major Claude Williams, an ex-All Black, who is serving with King George's Own Royal Engineers in India. Three of his other sons are also serving in the Army. The Rev. V. Venimore, vicar of St. Peter’s Church, Gonviile, and St. Luke’s, Castlecliff, was met by parishioners after evensong in the parish hall on Sunday night and given a presentation. He is at present stationed at an Air Force camp as padre Mr. A. Lett, people's warden, for the parishioners, expressed the esteem in which Mr. Venimore was held and asked him to accept a wristlet watch and a cheque. Mr. Venimore thanked the parishioners and gave a resume of the work of a padre in a military camp.
