AERODROMES RIPPED UP

Recd. 7 p.m. Chungking, Aug. 26. Liberators and Mitchells ripped up tile Japanese aerodromes at Hanbok and Wushan and shot down at least 19 Zeros and probably destroyed two more, says an announcement from American Air Force Headquarters in China. The Americans lost two Liberators. Pilots reported that at least 89 per cent, ot the bombs struck in the target areas. To-day’s Chinese communique reports that Chinese forces raided Fuyang, in Chekiang Province, 14 miles west of Hanchow, and killed or wounded several hundred Japanese and destroyed all the enemy defence works before retiring.
