Recd. 6 p.m. New York. Aug. 26. The Director of Man-power, Mr McNutt, broadcasting, assertea tnat the drafting of fathers for military service was necessary to ensure tha: the war was not prolonged by one unnecessary hour. Hinting at the possibility of a geneMl labour draft. Mr McNutt said that military and industrial manpower needs nad become extremely serious. He added: “We can no longer rely on the voluntary cooperation of labour and management, and the Government must begin now to exercise more positive control.”
